Katie Muldoon About Us Pic

Katie Muldoon

Founder and President

Katie Muldoon was born and raised in Maryland and grew up with many animals throughout the years including dogs, cats, birds, a Terrapin turtle, and an off-the-track thoroughbred named Joey. Her love and involvement in competitive horseback riding and training exposed her to various perspectives of the animal world, as well as rescue.

Katie attended the University of Mississippi and fell in love with the school and town of Oxford. She stayed to attend the University of Mississippi School of Law, where she founded its chapter of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund. Prior to attending law school, she became involved at the local humane society where she served as volunteer, adoption counselor, rescue coordinator and was elected to the Board of Directors. Through her involvement at this high-kill shelter, she realized a need for an alternative to euthanasia in Mississippi where the staggering volume of unwanted animals is unlike anywhere else in the country.

During law school, Katie interned at both the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine and the American Society for the Prevention to Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) on Capitol Hill. Her experience working beside world leaders in animal advocacy have prepared and driven the success and efficiency of MUTTS.

Moni Reynolds Simpson About Us Pic

Moni Reynolds Simpson

Vice-President

Moni Reynolds Simpson is a native of Clinton, MS, who studied Journalism at The University of Mississippi. She works at Invitation Magazines, has three dogs; two foster-fails, and an animal-loving husband & daughter who are her foster partners.
The love of animal rescue was instilled in her early as a young child. Growing up on a lot of land in rural Mississippi led to many strays & litters of puppies showing up throughout the years. The need to help these homeless animals carried through to college in Oxford, where her fostering journey began. After doing a news package at the local animal shelter and realizing how high the euthanasia numbers, she vowed to do anything she could to help with decreasing that. Taking in animals before they were taken to the shelter was her main goal for 14 years, until she met Katie Muldoon. Katie shared her vision of a non-profit transport group that could save many of these at risk animals and from there MS MUTTS began!
